Hello,
My name is Leasa Shukiar and I get the wonderful pleasure of being your children's teacher for two weeks. We had a truly fantastic week. We were learning about trains this week and did many explorations with them. We made a train book where our train went through many different places. For example the country, a tunnel and the city. We read books about trains and made our own freight train. During Children's Workshop today, I brought some trains and tracks from home for the students to play with. That was a big hit! Our letter of the week was W and our sight word was the word "was." We also had a fun time celebrating Dr. Seuss on Thursday and wearing pajamas to school. We read many Dr. Seuss books and did a variety of Dr. Seuss themed activities during the day. You probably got hungry reading their version of what to eat green eggs with that they brought home on Thursday. I loved seeing many of you at the MATES reading night that followed. Today we thoroughly enjoyed hearing half of the class share their amazing transportation projects. I can't wait to hear the rest on Monday. Next week we will be learning about boats and studying the short sound of the vowel "e" and our sight word want. For the letter bag, the students can bring in any item with a short "e" inside the word or that starts with a short "e." I am so proud of the work the students did this week and for their determination to earn class hearts. They filled the jar and got smarties on Friday to celebrate. I am confident they will fill the jar again quickly because they are working so hard. Have a wonderful week end!
Truly,
Mrs. Shukiar
